Electrical Power Systems Engineer

This role is responsible for designing, overseeing, and implementing electrical power systems to ensure efficiency, safety, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and experience in managing large-scale projects.

  • Develop and oversee electrical power systems and components for ongoing projects.
  • Implementing, maintaining, coordinating, and expediting procurement and construction elements for designated packages of work.
  • Identifying and resolving technical engineering issues and problems throughout the project duration.
  • Providing direction and support to site execution teams.
  • Performing overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel performance) and reporting regularly on project status.
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs and analyzing productivity factors against program and budget.
  • Reviewing engineering deliverables and initiating corrective actions.
  • Supporting commissioning and start-up of power generation and transmission systems.
  • Providing electrical power system support to ongoing operations.
Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven technical experience in designing and constructing electrical systems.
  • Experience working with network/distribution NSPs.
  • AEMO connections experience advantageous.
  • Field experience in large-scale electrical installations, troubleshooting, commissioning, and construction support.
  • Knowledge of prevalent high-voltage design standards and codes including AS/NZS, IEC, and IEEE standards.
  • Understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Natural ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
