
Electrical Automation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Automation Engineer to lead the development and implementation of safe, compliant, and efficient electrical and automation systems across material recovery facilities. This hands-on role supports technical reliability, fault diagnostics, and capital project delivery, working closely with site operations, engineering, and strategic teams.
This role will involve:
- Developing and implementing electrical and automation standards across all sites, in accordance with Australian regulations.
- Leading preventative and planned maintenance strategies, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.
- Supporting and coordinating the electrical and automation elements of capital projects and asset upgrades.
- Conducting advanced fault diagnosis and root cause analysis on breakdowns, ensuring learnings are applied across the network.
- Collaborating with site teams and contractors to ensure electrical work meets safety and performance expectations.
About you:
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
- Significant experience in electrical and automation engineering roles, ideally in manufacturing or recycling environments.
- Strong understanding of Australian electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with automation systems and continuous process operations.
- Proven ability to work across multiple sites with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
A key aspect of this role is maintaining a high level of knowledge in electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for safe systems of work and continuous improvement.
Requirements and Qualifications- Advanced degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical and automation engineering roles, preferably in manufacturing or recycling environments.
- Expertise in automation systems and continuous process operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
