About the Role

Brisbane Private Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Unit Manager to lead the Sterilising Services Team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will have a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and have a strong understanding of accreditation standards, AS/NZ 5369:2023, and HICMR.

As a key member of the Perioperative leadership team, you will report to and work collaboratively with the Perioperative Services Manager, with accountability for the operational requirements of the department.

You will coordinate an exceptional service that is evidence-based and of a high standard, consistent with AS 5369:2023, infection control guidelines, and Healthscope Policies.

Brisbane Private Hospital is an acute and rehabilitation hospital with 181 beds, 17 operating theatres, and dedicated surgical, ICU, and rehabilitation wards.

We specialise in Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Spinal, ENT, Pain, and Rehabilitation, with additional specialties including Plastics, Urology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

We also deliver a leading private drug and alcohol program, Damascus Health Services, from our dedicated drug and alcohol rehabilitation unit.

About You

We are looking for an experienced leader who has a strong understanding of people development and leading team culture.

You will have a thorough depth of knowledge in ACORN & National Standards and have demonstrated proven experience in leading high-performing teams with a service excellence approach.

You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with influence, and have a commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer-focused care.

Essential Criteria
  • Certificate IV in Sterilisation (preferred)
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years' experience working in a senior role within a CSSD, minimum 2 years in leadership/management position
  • Sound knowledge and application of accreditation standards, AS/NZ 5369:2023 standards, and HICMR
  • Consultative leadership style and sound negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
  • An interest in promoting best practice patient care and strong sense of customer service
