About the Position
As a Naval Warfare Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in commanding and navigating warships. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the ship's operations from the bridge, ensuring safe navigation and passage at sea, and managing the bridge crew effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Control the ship's movements and ensure its safe operation.
- Lead the bridge team and manage ship routines during watch.
- Identify and respond to potential threats during operational missions.
- Assist the Commanding Officer in warfare scenarios.
Career Development and Training
Your journey will begin with extensive training at sea, where you will serve as an Officer of the Watch (OOW). This role will involve participating in various operational missions and gaining invaluable experience on different vessels.
After accumulating several years of experience, you may opt to specialize in roles such as Navigating Officer, Principal Warfare Officer, or Mine Clearance Dive Officer, among others. Each path offers unique opportunities for advancement and specialized training.

- Junior Officer Common Training (JOCT): A comprehensive program designed to instill core military and leadership skills.
- Basic Officer of the Watch Course: Focused on navigation principles and bridge management.
- Warfare Officer of the Watch Qualification: Essential for those aspiring to command naval vessels.
