About the Role

As a Hydrographic Survey Officer with the New Zealand Defence Force, you will play a critical role in supporting naval operations by providing accurate and up-to-date geospatial information. Your responsibilities will include leading teams in survey work, utilizing a range of software and hardware in a rapidly evolving field.

Career Progression and Training

Your career will commence with Warfare Officer training, followed by Hydrographic Survey Training. You will gain technical skills and develop as a leader, mariner, and surveyor. Opportunities for specialization and advancement are available, including the chance to become a Captain of your own ship.

International Opportunities

You may have the opportunity to participate in international exercises and training programs, including an exchange program with the Royal Navy. This will provide you with valuable experience and the chance to work with other navies.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must be a minimum of 17 years of age, be free of any criminal convictions, and meet the minimum entry fitness standards. You must also be medically fit for service and meet the citizenship and security requirements for the TSV security clearance.
