Job Summary

Are you a skilled microbiologist looking for a challenging role in a dynamic laboratory environment? We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Microbiologist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing routine microbiological procedures, recording results, and maintaining current scientific knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Performing all routine microbiological procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
  • Recording of results in line with protocols
  • Maintaining current scientific knowledge
  • Participation in both routine and audit related quality assurance activities
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
  • Participating in training staff
  • Liaising with internal and/or external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals as necessary
  • Compliance and adherence with policies and procedures, workplace health and safety procedures and quality assurance processes
Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise, and skills within microbiology
  • Sound knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
  • Perform duties with a high degree of independence
  • An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
