Senior Associate - Insurance & Compensation

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to handle high-level cases, work in a fast-paced environment and have excellent communication skills.

  • Originate motions, damages and statutory benefits litigation.
  • Provide written advice and recommendations on worker's compensation and public liability matters.
  • Interview witnesses and gather expert reports to build strong case files.
  • Prepare and advocate mediation proceedings in Supreme and County Court.
  • Stay up-to-date with insurance and compensation law changes through ongoing research and professional development.
  • Manage own workload to meet tight deadlines and court timetables.
  • Contribute to business development activities to enhance the firm's profile and deliver seminars for clients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and law graduates to promote their growth and development within the team.
  • Participate in Learning and Development programs at Russell Kennedy, including creating and presenting CPD sessions for colleagues.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience in public liability claims, ComCover, and/or worker's compensation with a strong commercial mindset and practical approach.
  • Excellent drafting skills and ability to handle varied and intellectually stimulating workloads.
  • Well-developed initiative, critical thinking and strategic planning abilities.
