Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Geotechnical Design Lead to spearhead geotechnical design excellence across major projects, driving technical innovation and delivery success.

This role offers an unparalleled opportunity for senior technical professionals to oversee geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design inputs from early works through to construction. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure geotechnical solutions are practical, compliant, and constructible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the geotechnical design process across all project phases, including feasibility, tender design, detailed design, and construction.
  • Plan and interpret geotechnical investigations (boreholes, CPT, SPT, test pits, etc.) and produce detailed geotechnical models and reports.
  • Deliver geotechnical assessments for foundations, slope stability, settlement, ground improvement, and detailed geohazard mitigation strategies.
  • Provide peer reviews and technical sign-off for geotechnical deliverables.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia.
  • Registration on the National Engineering Register (NER) and/or Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or ability to obtain.
  • Proven experience in the geotechnical design of infrastructure projects, preferably within the power, energy, or civil construction sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, ground improvement, and slope stability.
  • Proficient in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, SLIDE, LPILE, Settle3, gINT, WALLAP, or equivalent.
  • Ability to produce and review geotechnical design reports, risk assessments, and technical memoranda to a high professional standard.
