About the Role

This is a fixed-term opportunity to join our team as a legal professional, working with in-house counsel to provide advice on local government legislation and general legal matters.


The role involves providing high-level legal support, drafting clear opinions and documents, and representing the council in court as required.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal guidance on legislation and general legal matters.
  • Collaborate with in-house counsel to deliver comprehensive legal services.
  • Draft well-reasoned legal opinions and technical documents.
  • Represent the council in court as needed.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in general practice law.
  • Strong research skills and foundation in legal principles.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare complex legal documents and reports.
  • Familiarity with court procedures.
  • Experience or willingness to develop expertise in local government, planning, development, property, and criminal law.
