Job Description:

The role of Electrical Power Products Detail Designer is a critical position in our team. As an Electrical Power Products Detail Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing customised power conversion and battery energy storage systems.

You will work closely with the team to develop, design and produce power systems hardware and software, delivering products, customised systems and turn-key projects. Our systems combine industrial robustness with cutting-edge power systems and software technologies.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing, designing, sizing, selecting, drafting and adapting power electrical, protection, power control, alarming, safety, auxiliary system and environmental control components and circuits.
  • Creating comprehensive sets of functional and manufacturing drawings according to power system drawing standards.
  • Supervising or managing the delivery of cabinets and the manufacturing and electrical & control fit-out of power conversion and battery energy storage systems in cabinets.
  • Programming and factory-testing protection systems.
  • Factory-testing the systems' electrical, control and communication installation.
  • Carrying out power and auxiliary system functional, communication, safety and failure scenario factory testing.
  • Carrying out device and integrated power system commissioning and testing on sites across the Australian east coast.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or related engineering science, or long-standing practical experience with power system detail design.
  • Relevant professional design experience in Electrical power products or systems hardware design.
  • Electrical LV power distribution hardware design.
  • Protection systems, including use of multi-function electronic protection relays.
  • System design with control, monitoring and communications systems.
  • Basic programming (PLCs or controllers).
