About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Urban Planning Specialist to join our Development Services unit at Sutherland Shire Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on urban planning and development matters to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Assess and evaluate development proposals to ensure compliance with relevant planning standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of planning policies and strategies that support the Council's vision and goals.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination on planning-related matters.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and support to customers with enquiries related to land use and development.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in urban planning and development assessment, preferably in a local government environment.
  • Strong knowledge of planning laws and regulations, including the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and quality outcomes.
