Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

SIMPEC is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team on a full-time basis working a FIFO 2:1 roster at Marble Bar.

  • Develop and implement quality management systems for projects.
  • Identify and correct QMS gaps and instances of duplication of work to ensure optimal performance.
  • Act as the first point of contact for clients regarding all testing on site.
  • Compile Project MDRs and maintain traceability throughout the project.
  • Solve QA/QC queries in accordance with relevant specifications, standards, management plans, procedures etc.
  • Raise, action and close out Non-Conformance Reports.
  • Develop procedures, management plans, ITP's, methodology statements in accordance with project specifications and relevant standards.
  • Ensure a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is available for all welds on the project and arrange development of additional WPS's if required.
  • Inspect structural, mechanical and piping installations including progressive material control, flange management, coatings inspections, alignment and dimensional verifications in accordance with construction drawings and specifications.
  • Raise NDE requests, coordinate NDE subcontractor personnel, validate and endorse NDE reports.
  • Complete weld maps, inspection and test reports, field inspection checklists and other documentation as required by the project's quality management system.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Hold CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector Certificate or equivalent.
  • Relevant trade qualifications, engineering qualifications or NDE experience are highly regarded.
  • Formal auditing or root cause analysis training is highly regarded.
  • A minimum of 5 years industry experience with a minimum of 2 years in a QA/QC role in construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of AS/NZS 1554.1-7, AS 4037, AS 4041, AS 4458, AS 3992, AS/NZS 4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS 2033.
  • Proven track record in quality systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Experienced in compilation of Project Manufacturer's Data Reports (MDR).
