Merchandise Operations Leader

The position of Merchandise Operations Leader involves spearheading the Merchandise Strategy, Procurement, and Visual Presentation execution for all retail locations within the ANZ region. This role is crucial in crafting and implementing effective purchasing strategies to guarantee that the appropriate products are sourced, acquired, and made accessible at optimal times and prices. The Merchandise Operations Leader collaborates closely with various departments to enhance profitability, streamline inventory levels, and align with the organization's overarching business goals.

Key Strategic Objectives

    • Design assortment strategies and brand displays for all retail locations in accordance with Merchandise Strategic Goals.
    • Oversee a visual merchandising team in-store, identifying and executing merchandising opportunities to boost sales.
    • Lead a team of Visual Merchandisers through effective training and development initiatives.
    • Manage and execute regular product launches across multiple locations, with potential for interstate travel.
    • Engage with suppliers to ensure effective point-of-sale execution and timely product launches.
    • Oversee the overall assortment and planograms for all locations, ensuring the right mix of vertical and third-party brands aligns with strategic objectives.
    • Collaborate with Allocation teams to ensure all assortments and plans are realized and optimized.
    • Work with Marketing and Planning teams to strategize seasonal marketing campaigns, content, and promotions.
    • Monitor aged inventory in-store and communicate with planning teams regarding underperforming styles for clearance.
    • Coordinate seasonal returns for distressed styles or aged inventory back to retail locations.
    • Build, manage, and sustain robust relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
    • Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, sell-through rates, and seasonal demands to develop a buying strategy aligned with company objectives.
    • Collaborate with all Heads of Departments within the Merchandise Team to achieve organizational outputs concerning timelines and completion dates, assisting in data analysis to create compelling fashion collections for our customers.
    • Continuously provide feedback to merchandise and planning teams to ensure optimization of inventory and assortments in-store.

Skills and Experience

    • Proven ability to develop, manage, and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
    • In-depth understanding of the fast fashion industry, with the ability to interpret trends and create ranges that ensure brand consistency and variety.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
    • Self-driven with a keen attention to detail.
    • Strong computer literacy skills with a focus on accuracy and follow-through.
    • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret data effectively.
