Technical Lead for Bridge Design

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to oversee the design of bridges and transport structures in Victoria, Australia. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team within a global company.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in bridge design, leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in diverse teams. They will be responsible for leading design teams, managing complex projects, and collaborating with local, national, and global teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, deliver, and provide specialist advice on design activities associated with transport structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, gantries, and tunnels.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and direction, developing design criteria, calculations, plans, and specifications.
  • Serve as a Proof Engineer in Victoria and lead teams executing proof engineering services.
  • Manage the development of structural asset management deliverables, including reports, drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with local, national, and global teams to leverage expertise and deliver integrated solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered membership of Engineers Australia (Structures) and listing on the National Engineering Register.
  • Registered Professional Engineer Victoria (RPEV).
  • Ability and commitment to obtain Proof Engineer pre-qualification from the Victoria Department of Transport and Planning (current or previous prequalification preferred).
  • 20+ years of structural engineering experience focused on bridges and transport structures, with strong consulting and project delivery background primarily in Melbourne and Victoria.
  • Proven ability to lead design teams and manage complex projects.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian and Victorian bridge design standards and technical requirements.
  • Proficiency in structural and asset management software tools such as Midas Civil, SpaceGass, Strand 7, SBD, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, able to work effectively in multidisciplinary and diverse teams.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and a strong team player with excellent coordination skills.
