Job Overview

The role of X-Ray Operations Manager is part of the Biosecurity Division, focusing on managing biosecurity and export certification risks within Australia.

This position involves project management of operational and x-ray installation activities in partnership with external border agencies, industry, and vendors.

The successful candidate will engage with technical experts and vendors on x-ray installations and biosecurity risk detection algorithm development, evaluating regulatory impacts and monitoring ongoing regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include travel to sites where existing biosecurity x-ray units operate and future x-ray proof of concept projects are planned, as well as representation of the department in various forums to engage stakeholders on technical aspects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Manage operational and x-ray installation activities in partnership with external agencies, industry, and vendors.
  • Technical Engagement: Engage with technical experts and vendors on x-ray installations and biosecurity risk detection algorithm development.
  • Regulatory Evaluation: Evaluate regulatory impacts and monitor ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Stakeholder Representation: Represent the department in various forums to engage stakeholders on technical aspects.
Requirements:
  • Experience with 3D or 2D x-ray technology, either operations or installation of x-ray units.
  • An understanding of Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry systems and familiarity with the biosecurity regulatory environment is desirable.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
