Accounting Officer Job Description

This role is responsible for managing the Council's financial operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting services. The successful candidate will contribute to effective and responsible management of finances, working alongside colleagues in a collaborative finance team.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile bank statements on a regular basis.
  • Perform weekly/fortnightly finance tasks as required.
  • Assist with completion of month-end reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and sub-ledgers accurately.
  • Complete Council's monthly BAS, annual FBT return, and other statutory returns.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for banking services within the Council.
  • Support the Manager Finance and Investment and the Finance team as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree or diploma in accounting, or relevant experience with lesser formal qualifications.
  • A valid Victorian Working with Children Check.
  • A current National Police Check and Driver's Licence.
