About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team at Life Without Barriers. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to children who have been placed into our care.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide quality direct support to children in our care, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met. This will involve day-to-day care in a home setting, including supporting children with daily routines, activities, and sports.

You will also be responsible for establishing rapport and collaborating effectively with children and their families to achieve positive outcomes. This may involve developing and delivering programs to support the children in consultation with internal and external stakeholders and care teams.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will be part of a larger care team, and ongoing training will be provided to support your growth and development in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality direct support to children in our care
  • Day-to-day care in a home setting
  • Establish rapport and collaborate effectively with children and their families
  • Develop and deliver programs to support the children
  • Monitor the changing needs of children and work collaboratively with the care team

Requirements:

  • Certificate in Community or Children's Services (advantageous but not essential)
  • Ability to build rapport with kids through sports or games and hobbies
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain during background checks)
  • Current unrestricted Drivers Licence
  • Commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of the people we support
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
