Job Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will work closely with individuals who require support with mental health issues, providing a safe and nurturing environment that fosters independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality support and services to individuals with mental health needs, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Develop and implement personalized support plans, taking into account the individual's unique needs and goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other support staff, healthcare professionals, and community services to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to support.
  • Assist individuals with daily living skills, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Encourage and support individuals to engage in activities that promote their physical and mental health, such as exercise, socializing, and hobbies.
  • Monitor and report any changes in an individual's mental health or well-being, ensuring timely interventions and support.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
Requirements
  • Minimum of Cert IV in mental health or community services related discipline (ideally a completed diploma or Bachelors).
  • Demonstrated effective listening, empathy, and communication skills.
  • Experience in working with individuals with mental health needs.
  • Ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively with distressed individuals.
  • Understanding of the principles of duty of care, rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other support staff, healthcare professionals, and community services.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office.
  • Availability to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including overnight shifts.
  • Eligibility to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance and current driver's license.
