Job OverviewWe're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will work closely with individuals who require support with mental health issues, providing a safe and nurturing environment that fosters independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality support and services to individuals with mental health needs, promoting their independence and well-being.
- Develop and implement personalized support plans, taking into account the individual's unique needs and goals.
- Work collaboratively with other support staff, healthcare professionals, and community services to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to support.
- Assist individuals with daily living skills, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Encourage and support individuals to engage in activities that promote their physical and mental health, such as exercise, socializing, and hobbies.
- Monitor and report any changes in an individual's mental health or well-being, ensuring timely interventions and support.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
- Minimum of Cert IV in mental health or community services related discipline (ideally a completed diploma or Bachelors).
- Demonstrated effective listening, empathy, and communication skills.
- Experience in working with individuals with mental health needs.
- Ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively with distressed individuals.
- Understanding of the principles of duty of care, rights to privacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other support staff, healthcare professionals, and community services.
- Competence with Microsoft Office.
- Availability to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including overnight shifts.
- Eligibility to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance and current driver's license.
- Paying on SCHADS Level 3 plus Super.
- Salary Packaging options (up to $15,899 tax-free).
