The role of In-House Counsel – Real Estate supports the development of a large-scale solar project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review agreements including leases, purchase agreements, easements, rights-of-way, and title curative documents.
  • Conduct title reviews to identify potential land-use issues.

Land Use & Permitting

  • Provide legal guidance on zoning, land use, and permitting requirements for utility-scale solar projects.
  • Advise teams on state, local, and federal regulations affecting land development.
  • Ensure compliance with real estate, environmental, and energy regulations impacting solar project development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with project development, finance, engineering, and construction teams to align strategies with business objectives.
  • Support M&A efforts by preparing due diligence materials and addressing investor concerns.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed attorney in a relevant jurisdiction or eligible for in-house counsel registration.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, with expertise in land use law, title review, and permitting.
  • Experience negotiating with developers, governmental agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Familiarity with NEPA, CEQA, and other environmental laws impacting solar development is beneficial.

A strong understanding of contract negotiation, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills is required.
