Asset Management Role

The position of Asset Systems Officer requires a professional with sound engineering principles, financial management skills and knowledge of asset management systems. The primary responsibility is to deliver high-level service excellence while managing Council's assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply engineering, environmental, financial, and safety principles to maintain accurate asset registers, including roads, drainage, footpaths, cycle ways, bridges, recreational facilities, land, water supply, and sewerage systems.
  • Coordinate the development of Council's Asset Management Systems, preparing asset information required by the organisation in compliance with policies and statutory requirements.
  • Collect and record physical and financial data for infrastructure projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness of recorded information.
  • Conduct site surveys to gather asset condition and detail information, verifying recorded data.
  • Provide infrastructure information for asset renewal and replacement programs.
  • Promote effective maintenance strategies through regular inspections, utilising data analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Input and manage records efficiently using Council data capture devices and systems, ensuring accessible reports support informed decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in applying Australian Accounting standards for asset management, with knowledge of accounting policies and principles.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and statutory reporting practices.
  • Sound knowledge of Asset Management principles and data maintenance requirements for accurate details within an asset register.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), analytical, and data interpretation skills.

A suitable candidate should have a Certificate IV in Asset Management, Engineering or equivalent, four years' experience in related environments, demonstrated knowledge of asset management principles, practices, and systems, and experience in infrastructure condition auditing, data collection methodologies, maintenance prioritisation, and statutory reporting.
