Heavy Diesel Fitter Role

The role of a Heavy Diesel Fitter is vital in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our fleet, working in both breakdown and planned maintenance capacity.

The key functions of the Heavy Diesel Fitter include:

  • Completing allocated maintenance tasks and carrying out breakdowns and diagnosis to a high standard, while working safely both independently and as part of a team
  • FOLLOWING documented maintenance procedures and instructions
  • Operating mobile equipment, light vehicles and ancillary equipment
  • Undertaking housekeeping and inspections
  • Participating in prestarts and other operational meetings as required
  • Undertaking training as required to gain new skills
  • TAKING personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in a maintenance team will be highly desirable
  • HRWL Forklift license desirable, or willingness to obtain
  • Experience working on Underground Mobile Equipment including Sandvik, Caterpillar, Normet, Volvo and Epiroc
  • Previous mining experience is essential, with Underground experience desirable
  • Ability to demonstrate a knowledge in safe work practices
  • Great communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to work in multiple environments including surface and underground Workshops and between multiple work locations and sites
