About the Role

The Medical Receptionist is a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, contributing to the shaping and achievement of our vision and goals within their own scope. As a first point of contact, the Medical Receptionist is responsible for ensuring patient flow is conducted with minimal interruptions by effectively using time management skills, informative communication skills, and observing the overall demeanour of patients in waiting. Excellent patient care relies on accurate and timely medical administration processes. You will support the ATSICHS Brisbane environment to build a sense of teamwork within the team and ATSICHS family. Staff will actively participate in team activities and contribute to a flourishing workplace culture that promotes the ethos and values of ATSICHS Brisbane as a long-standing Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.

Duties
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Model of Care, with a focus on leading and supporting the medical reception function.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow through effective use of clinic calendars and display exceptional phone manner when taking calls or messages.
  • Handle GP referrals appropriately.
  • Contribute to ensuring the recall function is in accordance with ATSICHS Policies and Procedures.
  • Handle patient correspondence in accordance with ATSICHS Privacy Policy and Procedures.
  • Commit to ongoing continuous quality improvement processes with annual reviews into the efficiency of service provision.
  • Contribute to ensuring the Medical Service Billing function is in accordance with ATSICHS Policies and Procedures.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Australian Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS) and the Medicare system and Practice Incentive Programs (PIP)
  • Certificate III Business Administration (or equivalent)
  • Organisation skills, including an ability to multi-task, to plan, set and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, and to work independently, efficiently and effectively
  • Interpersonal communication skills that demonstrate your ability to problem solve and negotiate positive outcomes
  • Interpersonal skills with a focus on client-focused outcomes
