A highly sought-after career opportunity has emerged for a strategic director to lead the development of long-range enterprise strategy, delivering high-quality internal and external reporting, and providing authoritative guidance on economic trends.
The successful candidate will bring together strategic foresight, planning, engagement, and enterprise reporting and messaging into a consolidated capability that supports senior stakeholders and informs agency decision-making.
This pivotal role plays a crucial part in setting the direction for the organisation by leading the integration of AFSA's long-range enterprise strategy and planning frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have post-graduate qualifications in economics, strategy, data science, business administration, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in public sector strategy, performance reporting, or regulatory reform.
Strong critical thinking and policy modelling capabilities are essential, as is a proven track record in senior stakeholder engagement and executive advising. A strong leadership presence, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, is also required.
The Strategic Director will be responsible for establishing and continuously improving enterprise performance measurement and evaluation frameworks, and will work closely with internal teams and external partners to publish research that contributes to policy debate and establishes the organisation as a thought leader in its field.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of economic trends and feasibility implications, as well as a proven ability to provide system-level advice to guide agency positioning.
The Strategic Director will lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team with a shared commitment to integrity, evidence-based decision-making, and public service outcomes.
Travel will be a requirement for the role, and the successful candidate must be willing to undergo a security clearance to the level of Baseline as a condition of employment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the development and integration of long-range enterprise strategy and planning frameworks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
