City Operations Horticulturalist Role

We are seeking a skilled Horticulturalist to join our City Operations - Tree Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of proactive and reactive tree maintenance works in accordance with relevant legislation and Australian Standards.

This includes:

  • Tree removal;
  • Tree pruning;
  • Screen maintenance;
  • Chipping branches and tree establishment;

You will need to perform all aspects of horticultural and arboriculture practices as trained and qualified to ensure that all tree maintenance is undertaken according to relevant legislation and Australian Standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking tree planting, root inspections, and pruning;
  • Implementing tree and soil nutritional programs;
  • Pest and weed identification and treatments;
  • Irrigation fault finding and repair;

To be suitable for this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of three years' experience working within the horticulture field, undertaking tree maintenance or related work;
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience in all aspects of horticulture practices as it relates to arboriculture;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tree species and appropriate techniques for maintenance;
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate tree condition and make recommendations on future care and maintenance to achieve sustainability;
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing a tree maintenance program;

The successful candidate will have access to ongoing professional development, including study assistance and secondment opportunities.

The position may also involve possessing a National Criminal History Clearance or DCSI Clearance.
