Our positions can be executed remotely, from our offices in various locations, or a mix of both. We genuinely promote flexibility; our recent engagement survey revealed that all our lawyers feel supported in utilizing our flexible working arrangements. All our lawyers are employed rather than contracted.

At HPX Group, we are fully driven by our values. We do not charge by the hour and do not require our lawyers to track their time. Our primary focus is on enhancing client experience and providing exceptional legal support.

The Role

We seek a high-achieving employment lawyer who possesses commercial acumen, is highly responsive, and is adept at delivering clear and decisive legal counsel. You will have the chance to engage in a diverse in-house style role, working across various sectors and clients of differing sizes, without the constraints of billable hours or timesheet obligations.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have substantial experience in New Zealand employment law, advising both private sector and government clients. We are particularly interested in candidates who also possess Australian employment and/or Australian/New Zealand commercial law experience.
  • Bring 5+ years of post-admission experience from private practice, government, or in-house environments.
  • Exhibit a strong entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset, along with excellent client management abilities.
  • Ideally, have a transferable client base and a proven history of business development.
  • Are commercially minded and comfortable providing pragmatic, in-house style advice and making decisive recommendations.
  • Are self-motivated, can work efficiently, adapt quickly, communicate effectively, and are passionate about enhancing client experience.
