Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Engineer to join our organization at Nova Scotia.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the safe and cost-efficient operation of high-pressure boiler turbine units and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating high-pressure boiler turbine units in a manner that prioritizes safety and efficiency.
  • Participating in competency-based training, regulatory training, and on-the-job training to ensure proficiency in all aspects of the role.
  • Maintaining personal safety and that of coworkers by adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Contributing to solid environmental performance of the plant and supporting ISO 14001 processes and initiatives.
  • Temporary assignment to other locations as required.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate and a minimum of three years' experience as a Power Engineer.
  • Proven problem resolution skills and flexibility in adapting to rescheduled assignments.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and computer aptitude.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

This is a permanent full-time position starting as soon as possible. The selected candidate must reside within 60 minutes of headquarters and may be required to respond to call-outs.

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position, requiring compliance with Emera's Alcohol and Drug Policy.
