Pastoral Care Practitioner

As a pastoral care practitioner, you will provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families in a multi-faith environment.

  • Engage in pastoral care at the bedside, listening, caring and supporting in whichever way is most beneficial to patients and their loved ones.
  • Facilitate small-medium size groups in areas such as meditation, mindfulness sessions, debriefs and staff well-being support activities.
  • Pray with and for patients/families when appropriate or requested.
  • Meet the spiritual needs of patients and their families through advocacy and referrals where necessary.

About the Role:

This role requires you to participate in an on-call schedule for weekends and public holidays, predominantly working from our Redland & Springfield campuses, and occasionally from the South Brisbane campus.

  • Hold an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in a Human Services related field.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating small-medium size groups and providing pastoral care in clinical environments.
  • Minimum 5 - 10 years' experience providing spiritual support and care in healthcare settings.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and build strong relationships with patients, families and colleagues.
