Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for supporting the Australian Investment Accounting team as a Senior Consultant, Team Lead, and will be involved in monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and tax reporting to a diverse range of investment manager and superannuation fund clients.

As a Team Lead, you will act as an escalation point for any client queries and will be involved in managing new client onboarding processes as it relates to financial reporting and tax. You will report to the Manager of Financial Reporting and Tax.

Key Requirements

  1. Reviewing financial statements and templates
  2. Proactively identifying and improving current core processes and procedures to ensure they are updated with changes in regulations and industry trends
  3. Delivering training and coaching to junior members of the team
  4. Working closely with other teams to achieve client reporting objectives
  5. Helping manage new client onboarding processes as it relates to financial reporting and tax
  6. Providing oversight of off-shore teams' output and performance
  7. Ensuring sufficient risk management controls are in place and adhered to Northern Trust compliance standards
  8. Acting as an escalation point for client queries
  9. Organizing and attending year-end planning meetings with clients

About You

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in financial reporting and team management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working within a custodian, superannuation fund, or investment manager accounting/tax team, and will have a technical understanding and practical application of accounting and tax concepts as they relate to managed investment schemes and superannuation funds.

The candidate should have a demonstrated high-level understanding of the application of Australian Accounting Standards as they relate to managed investment schemes and superannuation funds, and the different assets they invest in. They should also have a demonstrated high-level understanding of the application of Australian Tax rules as they relate to managed investment schemes and superannuation funds, and the different assets they invest in.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel and will have an accounting/commerce/finance degree qualification ideally with a CA or CPA. They should also have an understanding of unit pricing and unit registry concepts, as well as client service and relationship management experience.
