Financial Reporting Lead

This is a leadership role within KPMG's national financial reporting team, supporting the business and our clients in applying accounting standards and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with Partners, Managers, and staff members from various parts of the business to lead 2-3 specialist topic areas and resolve complex technical accounting issues.

The successful candidate will be based in Melbourne or Sydney and have an opportunity to develop their skills further.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultations on accounting standards and regulations for specific transactions.
  • Cultivate engagement teams and DPP team members through technical issues, reviewing junior team members' work and providing constructive feedback.
  • Become a subject matter expert on specific technical accounting topics through involvement in focus groups.
  • Draft technical papers for discussion by the Asia Pacific or Global SME group on transactions with limited technical guidance.
  • Conduct pre-issuance reviews each reporting period, reviewing financial statements for compliance with disclosure and accounting requirements.
  • Develop training or tools based on business and client needs.

Requirements:

  • Advanced experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or Australian Accounting Standards (AAS), particularly in business combinations, impairment, sustainability, and financial instruments.
  • Highly developed research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to analyze and interpret complex information and provide solutions with detailed reasoning.
  • Exceptional professional judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Naturally curious and driven by opportunities for continuous learning and technical development.
  • Friendly, professional attitude, proactive, self-starter with a collaborative team player approach.

Salary: $180,000 - $250,000 per annum, depending on experience.
