Job Title:

Fisheries Resource Officer

Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) and Quota reporting in accordance with Fisheries legislation.
  • Manage capture and dissemination of fishing vessels position and quota catch through electronic systems.
  • Administer fisheries legislation related to VMS and Quota, utilizing good judgment and authority.
  • Liaise with industry on VMS and Quota legislative obligations, installation procedures, and emerging technologies.
  • Respond to internal and external clients regarding compilation, analysis, and interpretation of Fisheries data.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and authority in administering fisheries legislation.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for working with industry and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of fisheries legislation and regulations.
