Key Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a strategic Fire Capability Manager to oversee operations at Oakey station, providing leadership and ensuring the successful deployment of personnel, equipment, and planning to meet Defence capability objectives.

The Fire Capability Manager will be accountable for resource allocation, including personnel, fleet, equipment, and training, while fostering an inclusive working environment through employee engagement and service excellence.

Duties Include
  • Ensuring station teams maintain operational preparedness for emergency scenarios
  • Accountable for resource allocation, including personnel, fleet, equipment, and training
  • Fostering an inclusive working environment through employee engagement and service excellence
  • Building relationships with Defence Service Personnel, SEG Leadership, and Industry partners
  • Leading safety, environment, and health outcomes by role modelling LEAD behaviours and driving compliance
  • Contributing to redefining service excellence through world-class emergency response

About You
  • Note: While experience in emergency management is desirable, it's not mandatory. We seek a Fire Capability Manager who can bring diverse backgrounds and skills to a high-performing contract.
  • Graduate or Post Graduate qualification in Business Management
  • Background in complex service delivery across geographically dispersed and/or multi-agency operations
  • Able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities based on risk
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated experience in leading people programs, workforce planning, mentoring, and change management
  • Commercially astute and strategic with experience in workforce planning, financial reporting, SHEQ, compliance, and governance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance as an Australian Citizen
