Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation is a multi-disciplinary organisation providing primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.

We are committed to 'Closing the Gap' in Aboriginal health within remote Australia, ensuring our clients' physical and emotional health and wellbeing is given utmost priority.

This position involves collaborating with various sections to develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. You will conduct risk assessments, provide expert guidance on safety regulations, and contribute to the overall well-being of all employees.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommending preventive measures.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to management and staff on health and safety matters, promoting a proactive safety culture.
  • Staying aware of relevant occupational health and safety regulations, updating policies accordingly to ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Collaborating with departments to deliver targeted health and safety training programs, fostering awareness and competence among employees.
  • Investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses, compiling reports with recommendations for corrective actions.

To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate your respect for Aboriginal culture and cultural diversity. Essential skills and experience include:

  • Cert IV (or higher) in Work Health and Safety or similar qualification.
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the cultural context of Aboriginal health and ability to tailor health and safety initiatives.
  • At least two years of experience as a WHS Advisor/Officer or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of WHS safety principals, regulations, practices, and programs.
  • Strong skills in risk assessment, analysis, and knowledge of compliance requirements.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $80,739 and $90,235 per annum, plus generous benefits including professional development incentives and employment conditions.
