Institutional Credit Risk Manager

You are an experienced credit risk professional seeking a new challenge. As an Institutional Credit Risk Manager, you will play a critical role in the approval and management of counterparty credit risk at Westpac's Institutional Bank.
About the Role:
This is a permanent, Sydney-based position offering flexible working options. You will work closely with the Institutional Credit Team to assess and manage credit risk across a portfolio of corporate, institutional, multinational, and government clients based in Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a portfolio of institutional credit exposures in compliance with Westpac's policies, processes, and best practices.
* Demonstrate prudent and clear judgment in assessing and approving credit risk within the business.
* Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including risks outside of appetite, required modifications to deal structures, or additional due diligence necessary for approval.
* Work closely with the business to optimise risk utilisation and maximise returns from defined available risk appetite.
* Contribute to the strategic positioning of Westpac's Institutional Bank, ensuring credit strategies and policies align with business units' objectives.
What You Need:
To succeed in this role, you will have:
* Demonstrated experience in a credit-related role.
* Previous delegated authority to approve credit risk (highly desirable).
* Independent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Confidence handling complex transactions, often with short timetables, challenging when necessary and providing suggested solutions.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present analysis and recommendations in a succinct manner to senior stakeholders.
* Demonstrated constructive leadership capabilities, including strong problem-solving skills.
* Previous experience in credit analysis of Financial Institutions, Public Sector, Health, and Financial Markets sectors.
* Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
* Good relationship-building skills.
Salary and Benefits:
The estimated salary range for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. This includes a competitive base salary, superannuation, and other benefits such as flexible working arrangements and career development opportunities.
