Grounds Maintenance Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Operations team at Darwin International Airport (DIA) as a Grounds Maintenance Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the presentation, safety, and functionality of all airport grounds and infrastructure.

About the Role

As a Grounds Maintenance Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance and improvement of airport grounds, including mowing, whipper snipping, mulching, weeding, litter collection, and tree care
  • Application of herbicides and insecticides
  • Minor repairs, including fencing, roads, signage, pavements, irrigation systems, surface repairs, vegetation control, stockpile management, and support for events, storm clean-ups, and emergency response
  • Assisting with terminal maintenance and furniture moves
  • Participation in the airport runway and apron repainting program
  • Working alongside external contractors when required
  • Compliance with all safety, security, and airport regulations
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining grounds equipment
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • Knowledge of WHS practices
  • Valid driver's license

You will also need to be willing and able to obtain:

  • Chemical Accreditation
  • Airside Driver's License
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and AFP clearance
