Fire and Explosion Investigation Specialist

Job Overview
The role of a Fire and Explosion Investigation Specialist involves conducting thorough investigations into fire and explosion scenes, analyzing evidence, and providing expert advice to stakeholders. This position requires a strong understanding of chemistry, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting on-site investigations of fire and explosion scenes
- Collecting and analyzing samples related to fire scenes
- Preparing detailed reports for courts, investigators, and other stakeholders
- Presenting evidence in court
- Providing scientific and technical advice on fire scenes, flammable liquids, explosives, and dangerous goods
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, applicants must have a degree or postgraduate degree in Science or Applied Science with a major in Chemistry. A Victorian Drivers Licence, Licence to Use Blasting Explosives, Pyrotechnicians Licence, and appropriate High Consequence Dangerous Goods Licences are also required. A security clearance must be obtained.
Desirable Skills:
A proven commitment to quality in casework and/or research is essential. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also necessary, as well as the ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
