Packing Manager

A key role within a market-leading brand, overseeing the smooth and efficient running of an apple packing facility.

The Packing Manager is responsible for ensuring all fruits are packed to the highest standards and delivered in full and on time. This involves advising, directing, and supporting shed staff, while maintaining strict adherence to food safety protocols.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all hygiene standards are met for staff, produce, machinery, and equipment
  • Budget management for labour and packing costs
  • Managing pack outputs in line with seasonal fluctuations and supply and demand
  • Rigorous product inspections
  • Run-to-pack programs, blemish sorting, and software management
  • Staff supervision and training for a safe working environment
  • Accurate record keeping and coordination of transport and logistics

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in the apple industry (essential)
  • Understanding of the supply chain from receival to dispatch
  • Exceptional organisational skills for planning, scheduling, and time management
  • Understanding of mapping and Compac/MAF
  • Current driver's license
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Self-motivated with plenty of initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
