About the Role:

The School Counsellor supports students in their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development by providing guidance and support.

This position works closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to help students achieve their full potential academically and socially, and to foster a positive and inclusive school environment.

  • Develops and implements strategies to support students in navigating a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that may affect their wellbeing, engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Provides proactive and responsive support, working directly with students experiencing emotional or behavioural challenges, while also contributing to whole-school wellbeing initiatives.

The School Counsellor contributes to strategic planning through the use of wellbeing data, and collaborates on the design and evaluation of preventative and responsive programs.

The School Counsellor works within their professional scope of practice and in close collaboration with the School Psychologist team and other allied health professionals.

The role requires initiative, sound judgement, and discretion in addressing issues related to student wellbeing.
