Job Opportunity: Family Support Specialist
We are a leading supervised contact agency dedicated to providing safe and supportive environments for children to maintain relationships with their parents or family members.
- Attend contact visits and supervise interactions between children and their parent/family members.
- Prepare detailed reports of interactions between the parent and child after the visit.
- Communicate with clients in a professional and empathetic manner.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess strong verbal and written communication skills. You will also need to have the ability to defuse escalating situations and manage difficult behavior in a professional manner.
The ideal candidate will have current and clear Working With Children Check and Police Check, as well as a First Aid Certificate. They will also have relevant experience working with children and families, and an understanding of child development stages, mandatory reporting requirements, child protection, and family and domestic violence laws.
Tertiary qualifications relevant to working with children and families include social work, teaching, childcare education, community services, and youth work (Minimum Cert III). The role requires weekend availability and a commitment to work no less than 15 hours per week, including weekends.
In return, our team member will develop and grow as a professional, learn effective communication skills, build confidence and ability to resolve conflicts, and gain knowledge about family law, divorce proceedings, and family violence.
