Carer Support Specialist

This role is designed to provide dedicated support to individuals who are caring for someone experiencing a suicidal crisis or significant self-harm.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide proactive and timely peer connection and support utilizing multiple frameworks
  • Facilitate meaningful interactions with the carer community and community at large
  • Create a safe space for families, carers and kin to be heard and valued
  • Collaborate with the support service team during periods of increased demand
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience providing support to family and carers using a Lived Experience Peer Practice Framework
  • Knowledge of working within a Person-Centered Framework
  • Awareness of state and national Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Development Guidelines
  • Experience in facilitating groups and workshops
  • Understanding of non-clinical approaches to working with suicidal and emotional distress
