Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to join our team as a Maintenance and Security Support Officer. This is a short-term opportunity that will see you being a member of the Security Team, providing security in the City Administration Centre precinct, and maintenance of assets within.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring public areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for the public and staff. They will also monitor the precinct and other council facilities to identify any risks or potential failures of plant or equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing assistance to the Security Team Leader and Maintenance Officer in the provision of security, asset maintenance, and building services
  • Assisting with after-hours on-call service to attend security breaches, alarms, and maintenance issues at Council sites
  • Providing logistical assistance at various civic functions and to the Disaster Co-ordination Centre as required
  • Opening and closing the Administration Centre
  • Performing ad-hoc duties as required
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in the security industry. They must hold a Queensland Security Licence (Class 1) with competency in the modules of Crowd Controller, Unarmed Security Officer, and Monitoring Security Officer.

In addition, they should have the ability to perform basic maintenance duties and maintain accurate records. Well-developed oral and written communication skills are also essential.

The successful candidate must also have the ability to physically cope with maintenance work and manual handling activities.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in the security industry is necessary
  • A Queensland Security Licence (Class 1) with competency in the modules of Crowd Controller, Unarmed Security Officer, and Monitoring Security Officer is necessary
  • The ability to perform basic maintenance duties
  • The ability to maintain accurate records and well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use computers or familiarity with technologically based systems

  • Demonstrated understanding of the implications of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011
  • The ability to communicate and deal with the public and other staff, making prompt reliable decisions within the bounds of allocated responsibilities
