Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in ANZ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the EHS Manager in building and delivering EHS activities across ANZ, focusing on:
  • Updating the Safety Management System, including A&NZ Chemical management program, safety risk assessments, and relevant registers.
  • Maintaining and updating applicable workflows for LOTO and Electrical safety practical assessments.
  • Assisting with updating the business risk reduction program priorities and monitoring delivery of facility EHS requirements.
  • Supporting element owners to build evidence for compliance with safety management system.
  • Leading and delivering New Employee Orientation sessions, tools, and resources.
  • Supporting People Leaders and their employees on health and safety programs, risk assessment, accident/incident reporting, LOTO, etc.
  • Driving the EHS KPI compliance and achievement.
  • Completing safety Gemba walks, conducting general hazard inspections, Strength of Defense Matrix (SoDM), and site audits with key stakeholders to drive improvements regularly.
  • Contributing data and information for accurate and timely EHS performance reports.
  • Drafting Safety Alerts and workplace EHS briefings.
  • Assisting in preparing for compliance audits in accordance with the internal audit schedule and providing support during third-party external audits.
  • Managing the return-to-work process and associated documentation.
  • Coordinating Workers Compensation claims and ensuring completion of all required documentation within designated timeframes.

Requirements:

  • Formal qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of A&NZ Work Health & Safety Legislation codes and standards, with the ability to interpret and apply.
  • Previous experience working in high-risk industry environments with office-based and field teams.
  • Possessing a current driver's license.

Desirable Characteristics:

  • Proven experience in a WHS and RTW role.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, relevant Codes of Practice, and ISO 45001 WHS Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and deliver WHS initiatives, including leading WHS projects.
  • Experience in data extraction and analysis is highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with Contractor Worker Safety Management processes.
  • Skilled in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Microsoft engagement tools like Viva Engage, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability to work effectively with diverse teams across different departments, locations, and cultural backgrounds.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong self-management and task prioritization skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
  • Demonstrates key behaviors such as empathy, humility, integrity, and resilience.
