Job Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled Precision Machining Specialist to join our fast-paced workshop in Northern Territory. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for operating manual and CNC machines in a jobbing environment, with a focus on precision and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run manual and CNC machines, including 3 and 4-axis mills and lathes, in a safe and productive manner
  • Assist in the continual improvement of processes to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Read detailed drawings to manufacture parts with precision and accuracy
  • Operate conventional workshop equipment, such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders, to manufacture parts from various metals and materials
  • CNC machine operation and programming, including Siemens and Mazatrol controllers, is an advantage
  • Measure and check parts for tolerance and fit according to specifications
  • Fitting of parts into sub-assemblies and machines
  • Undertake maintenance and repairs of machines and equipment
  • Provide technical support to ensure all works are completed to health and safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Perform operational maintenance of machines and overhaul and repair mechanical parts
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Program Fanuc G-code machines using Mastercam and Gibbs Cam software

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognized trade qualification as a fitter machinist or 1st class metal machinist
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in precision metal machinery
  • Proven technical competency in precision metal machinery
  • Proactive safety focus and ability to manage own time
  • Good communication skills and positive attitude to work
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and team working skills
  • A current driver's license
