About the Role:

The Centacare Young Carer Support Services program aims to provide comprehensive support services to young carers aged between 5-25 years. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Young Carer Coordinator to join our team and work collaboratively with young carers to address their unique needs and barriers.

As a Young Carer Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering intensive case management services to young carers, focusing on improving their wellbeing, education and employment participation, and strengthening connections with communities, support networks, and services.

You will work holistically and inclusively with the young carer and their support networks, using a strength-based and person-centred approach to promote self-advocacy and independence. This includes providing mentorship services, assisting in experiencing supports with the young carer, and facilitating access to longer-term supports and resources.

To be successful in this role, you will require strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in computer use, and ability to learn and utilise databases. A valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check and a valid Australian Drivers Licence are also essential.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with young carers and their families
  • Strong understanding of the issues affecting young carers and their support networks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check and a valid Australian Drivers Licence
