Supporting Young Carers

At Centacare, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate professional to fill the role of Young Carer Coordinator. This vital position is part of our commitment to providing support and resources to young carers aged between 5-25 years.

The Young Carer Support Services (YCSS) program aims to address the immediate needs of young carers and help them overcome barriers to accessing mainstream services. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with young carers, their families, and support networks to provide tailored support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide intensive case management to young carers and their families
  • Assist young carers in developing strategies to improve their wellbeing and increase education and employment participation
  • Strengthen connections with communities, support networks, and services to ensure young carers receive the support they need

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work, or a related field
  • Knowledge of the impacts on young people and their caring roles
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Working with Children Check and Australian Driver's Licence

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth and/or unpaid carers
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD, and LGBTQIA+ communities
