The Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 Custodial Mental Health is responsible for providing safe, evidence-based, person-centred care in line with the standards, policies and procedures of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and other statutory authorities. Care uses Trauma Informed Care and Recovery principles and aligns with the National Practice Standards for Mental Health Workforce and NSW Health Mental Health Competencies. The CNS delivers high-standard care in assessment and management of mental health issues, discharge planning and transfer of care, and provides clinical leadership in treatment planning and clinical review systems for patients with mental health concerns.

Essential Requirements
  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Three years' full-time experience in mental health and post-graduate qualifications in mental health, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications.
Location

Dillwynia Correctional Centre, located in Berkshire Park in Western Sydney, is a minimum-security facility for women focused on rehabilitation and community reintegration. The centre offers a safe, structured work environment with on-site parking and is approximately one hour from Sydney CBD.

Service and Team

Custodial Mental Health (CMH) is a specialist mental health service within the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, providing a range of mental health services to adults in NSW correctional centres. CMH includes a specialist mental health team with mental health nurses, nurse practitioners, Aboriginal Mental Health Clinicians, psychiatrists, CMOs and psychiatry registrars, supported by administrative and managerial staff. CMH clinicians work with Psychology, Offender Services and Programs, and Custodial Operations staff in the provision of mental health services from reception through to release or transfer.

Salary and Benefits

Your salary is in the range $109, $113,556.22 p.a. plus superannuation and leave loading. Benefits may include:
