Job Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Distiller to join our production and tasting team at the Bimbadgen Estate in the Hunter Valley.
With the introduction of a world-class Copper Pot Still, we aim to welcome a team member who will lead distillery production, work with, and assist in production in the winery, and drive the growth of our Spirits brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day production of distillery products.
- Contribute to the creation of new products in conjunction with the Chief Winemaker and Spirits team.
- Produce a production schedule with the Chief Winemaker and produce a range of products in accordance with the schedule.
- Ensure all products produced adhere to our established quality control policies and procedures.
- Work with the Chief Winemaker in ordering raw materials.
- Ensure our production site and equipment adhere to our safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain distillery operating procedures, production manuals, and procedures.
- Contribute to the training and development of the Cellar Door team in tasting and sales.
- Assist in the creation of a dedicated Spirit-based tasting experience.
- Assist the winery team one day a week and during busy vintage periods.
- Support the WHS committee.
Your Time will be split between: 3 days/week distillery, 1 day/week winery, 1 day/week tasting and sales in both Business to Business and Business to Consumer based scenarios (ie cellar door).
Your Background:
- A deep understanding of spirits production, particularly gin.
- Familiarity with food science and/or wine/distillery science education is beneficial.
- Proficiency in computer administration is required.
- A current forklift license would be advantageous but not essential.
- A keen interest in wine can be an advantage but is not mandatory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Organized and diligent with a high attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, and ability to work both autonomously and as a part of a team.
- Ability to work to deadlines, KPI's, and manage competing priorities.
