Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Project Manager Lead to join our organisation, based in Melbourne. This role will be responsible for the successful delivery of strategic projects and programs that drive transformation.

The Project Manager Lead will oversee project governance, portfolio management, performance reporting, and delivery support. You will partner with senior stakeholders to ensure initiatives are prioritised, managed effectively, and deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Governance and Oversight
    • Establish and enforce project management standards, methodologies, and frameworks.
    • Provide assurance that projects are being managed effectively, risks are controlled, and benefits are realised.
  • Portfolio Management
    • Oversee the integrated project portfolio to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
    • Coordinate project prioritisation processes and provide visibility of project status, risks, and resource utilisation.
  • Project Delivery Support
    • Guide sponsors, project managers, and teams through planning, execution, and issue resolution.
    • Build capability through mentoring, training, and coaching.
    • Ensure flexibility and responsiveness to maintain project momentum.
  • Reporting and Performance
    • Deliver clear and accurate reporting on project status, risks, financials, and benefits.
    • Support informed executive decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, executives, and business leads.
    • Serve as a key escalation point for resolving issues and removing roadblocks.
  • Health, Safety & Wellbeing
    • Work closely with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure alignment and compliance to safety legislation.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Proven success (5+ years) leading a PMO or large program management function in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated success delivering ERP or digital transformation projects on time and on budget.
  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, integration, or transformation programs.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Ability to step in with hands-on execution and analytical support.

Qualifications

A tertiary qualification in Business, Project Management, or a related field is essential. Strong knowledge of project/portfolio methodologies and tools, such as PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile, and MS Project, is also required.

Desirable

Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification would be highly regarded, as would experience within logistics, supply chain, or wholesale distribution industries.
