Job Overview

The Senior Legal Advisor plays a pivotal role in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, collaborating closely with senior stakeholders to provide timely and strategic legal guidance on complex workplace law and WHS matters.

This role involves supporting executive management in managing staff-related issues, including complaints and investigations, as well as providing high-level legal advice on policy and protocol development, focusing on workplace health and safety.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and a deep understanding of federal civil jurisdictions and relevant legislation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive legal advice on workplace relations matters.
  • Provide high-level advice on policies and protocols across all areas of responsibility.
  • Support executive management in managing staff-related issues, including complaints and investigations.
  • Collaborate with the Federal Court Agency's People and Culture Section to leverage their service delivery for human resources functions.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law and admission as a practitioner of the High Court and/or the Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a legal practitioner or in-house counsel, legal officer, or equivalent position within either the private or public sector.
  • Experience in labour law and workplace relations is highly desirable.
