Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead the engineering planning and delivery of project works in line with contractual, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills. They will also have the ability to work effectively in remote site environments and bring a collaborative, safety-first approach to achieving successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering planning and delivery of project works in line with contractual, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Develop construction programs, schedules, and procurement strategies to meet project timelines.
  • Monitor performance against KPIs across cost, schedule, and quality metrics.
  • Manage technical clarifications, variations, and contract administration in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and mentoring to Project, Site, and Graduate Engineers, including performance reviews and development planning.
  • Oversee project cost control, tracking actuals against budgets, and assist with financial reporting.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with HSEQ requirements, conduct risk assessments, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Support ongoing reporting, forecasting, and productivity tracking in line with company project management systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction, with 10–15 years preferred.
  • Proven ability in project financials, cost control, and subcontractor management.
  • Familiarity with WH&S, quality, and environmental management systems.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a commitment to team development.
  • Advanced planning, scheduling, and resource coordination abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • High attention to detail, organisation, and commercial awareness.
