Job Opportunity: Senior Project Engineer

Stabilizing the grid is critical as renewable energy grows. To address this challenge, Transgrid is delivering a landmark project.

This state-of-the-art initiative involves deploying advanced machines to ensure the stability of the grid during periods of increased renewable generation.

We seek an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead on the mechanical and rotating plant elements of this program.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the design, oversee delivery, and ensure technical excellence on a project that will underpin Australia's energy transition for decades to come.

The successful candidate will work at the heart of a diverse and high-performing project team, engaging directly with OEMs, design houses, and contractors.

Collaborating closely with specialists across Transgrid, you'll review and manage design packages, act as an interface between multiple partners, and get hands-on in technical matters.

Driving innovation and cost efficiency, and coordinating internal teams are key aspects of the role.

Visiting project sites during construction and commissioning phases ensures successful implementation.

As the technical authority and mentor, you'll collaborate closely with another Senior Project Engineer and report directly to the Senior Project Manager.

About You:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in engineering roles within energy, utilities, or heavy industry.
  • Direct experience in the design, commissioning, or maintenance of rotating plant, including generators, turbines, motors, compressors, synchronous condensers.
  • A track record of delivering large-scale projects through office-based design coordination and field implementation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with contractors, OEMs, consultants, and senior internal stakeholders.
